Founded in 1910, JVS is an innovative career development agency that strives to benefit its customers and clientele and enhance the community and society.

JVS is driven by the Jewish value hachnasat orchim, "to welcome the guest." JVS is committed to welcoming and assisting people of all backgrounds who need assistance to overcome barriers to employment and enhance their career development. Through its mission to optimize self-sufficiency, JVS also embodies the Jewish values tikkun olam, "striving to repair the world" and gimilut chasadim, "doing deeds of kindness."

JVS helps over 1800 people a year with diverse backgrounds to attain employment and develop a strong career life. Some of the people assisted by JVS' many programs are:

• dislocated workers
• people with disabilities
• individuals transitioning from welfare to work;
• refugees
• people seeking career clarification
• students seeking college and education options, academic majors, and career goals
• students seeking scholarship assistance.

JVS' corporate services help employers to meet their staffing and training needs by providing work teams and by offering customized skill and work readiness training. JVS is known for matching candidate skills with employer needs.

JVS' dedicated board of directors represents diverse sectors of the professional and business community. Each JVS board member enriches and assists JVS to meet community needs.

JVS is one of twenty-nine affiliate agency members of the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services. Together the JVS network benefits over 350,000 persons in the US, Canada and Israel each year. JVS is accredited by CARF--the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission and the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc.
